NATIONAL COLLEGE OF DEFENCE STUDIES HOLDS GRADUATION CEREMONY
The National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) held its graduation ceremony for twenty-six (26) participants of Course 2 on Friday, 12 December 2025, at the Burma Hall in Accra. The ceremony was held under the theme, “Simple, Moral, Accountable, Responsive and Transparent Governance for Sustainable Development.”

Delivering the welcome address, the Acting Commandant of the National College of Defence Studies, Brigadier General Frederick Denkyi Ntiri, encouraged the graduates to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme to strengthen their respective institutions and contribute meaningfully to national development. He emphasised that the College prepares its graduates not only to serve Ghana but also to contribute effectively to peace and security across Africa and the wider international community.

Brigadier General Ntiri further expressed the hope that more professionals would take advantage of the next academic year, beginning in February, to enroll in the programme, and reaffirmed the College’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with other African countries to broaden the reach and impact of its courses.

Delivering the keynote address, the Guest of Honour, former Ghana High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and former Chief of the Defence Staff, His Excellency Vice Admiral (Rtd) Seth Amoama, paid tribute to the relevance of the course theme, noting that it reflects the values required to sustain good governance and strategic leadership.

Vice Admiral Amoama stated that NCDS was established to nurture a new generation of strategic leaders capable of addressing complex security challenges across Ghana, Africa, and the wider world. He explained that the College focuses on developing leaders who can manage resources prudently, overcome constraints, and promote self-reliance. He noted with pride that NCDS currently counts thirteen (13) Generals among its alumni, underscoring the institution’s growing impact.

He emphasised that the College trains leaders who do more than command troops, equipping them to assess risks, anticipate threats, exercise foresight, innovate, and make decisive decisions essential to national and regional security.

Congratulating the graduates and award winners, he urged them to lead with humility, excellence, integrity, courage, and a clear vision, noting that true leadership is rooted in character and service to others. He further expressed appreciation to international partners and allies for their continuous support and encouraged greater participation from public sector institutions, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in future courses.

Awards and certificates were presented to deserving graduates, reaffirming the College’s commitment to producing high-level strategic leaders. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Ernest Brogya Genfi , the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, the Service Chiefs, the President of the National Defence University, distinguished serving and retired Generals, senior officers, faculty members, and families of the graduates.
